The Associated Press reports New York a dispatch noting Benjamin Altman, a dry goods dealer who died yesterday, left an estate valued at 845 million. Despite immense wealth, he did not know by sight over 100 people. A third of the estate was art, including twenty Rembrandts.
Seattle dispatch reports that ten thousand dollars of fifteen thousand dollars missing from railway mail cars between Seattle and Havre has been recovered. The money was found at Farwo North Dakota, with investigators tracing the location.
W. L. Tittle, prison commissioner, secured an injunction against W. O. Murray S. J. Bass and W. Stamps to prevent attempts to oust him from office or interfere with his books. Hearing set for Oct. 20 in Walker County District Court.
In Rochester New York on October 8 Miss Ruth Hildreth was killed and her sister Dorothy was perhaps fatally injured when Lincoln Beachy lost control of his plane. The craft swept spectators from a roof where they watched the exhibition flight.
In Liverpool on October 8, William McDonald a young church worker in a religious frenzy shot dead three fellow workers, bludgeoned their bodies, and then killed himself.
Charge O Shaughnessy delivered a report from Vera Cruz on Mexico's capital affairs to John Lind. The document stated no ceasefire picture, but officials at the National palace promised fair elections and early pacification. Lind will stay for now unless invited by the Mexican government or instructed by President Wilson, with no direct communication to Huerta.
Washington Oct 8 The Republicans under Minority Leader Manny disrupted the House when it met with fifty two members short of a quorum. Mann raised the no quorum point of order and the Sergeant at arms searched for absent members, locating five before adjourning until noon today leaving forty seven short. Minority members jeered at Democrats during the delay.

Rebel forces executed General Alvarez and 125 Federal soldiers by order of General Pancho Villa following the capture of Torreon. Advices say the constitutionalists used a ruse to trap the Federals, drawing them toward Santa Rosalia while the main insurgent forces seized Torreon and La Paz.

City Assessor Ledbetter verified that the western limits extend about 60 feet beyond the stated boundary, aligning with County Surveyor Pierce. Using a 100 foot tape he found windings over hills add roughly eight feet, placing the car track center on Avenue C about 52 feet over the limit. A re survey using all facts and boundaries may be conducted to finalize the exact western limit for tax purposes affecting 75 to 100 families along Avenue C and the western boundary.

Louis Sarecky, former campaign secretary for Governor Sulzer, testified at the impeachment trial that he destroyed most checkbook sales and memoranda tied to campaign contributions. He admitted omitting brewer contributions from Sulzer signed statements and said he later used funds to settle a suit. Also, Allan A. Ryan testified Sulzer sought influence to halt the trial and offered to do right.
