Reports from Manchuria say Chinese forces continue harsh methods in the Mongol campaign. Altogether 1,459 Mongols, mainly peaceful tribesmen, have been killed near Jerken Temple.
Gov Colquitt appoints Robert H Hopkins of Denton to fill the unexpired term of the late Clem B Potter as district judge in the Sixteenth Judicial district. Hopkins, a longtime attorney, had served as special judge during Potter illness and enjoys broad support in Denton. The four year term begins with a November expiration.
Gainesville suspends business as district judge Clem B. Potter dies of typhoid at 40. Funeral held at his parents home with banks stores and schools closed at noon.
