In Our New Home we are occupying our new building and invite customers and friends to call and inspect the conveniences arranged for the banking public. We are building a substantial and serviceable bank equal to any in Texas and appreciate daily kind words of encouragement. Ladies invited especially.
A. J. Nance serves as President with J. R. Christal as Vice President and J. G. Coit as Cashier. E. D. Curtis is Assistant Cashier. Directors include A. J. Nance, J. C. Coit, J. R. Christal, Ed F. Bates, Dr. J. M. Inge, Alvin Gcow sley, and John H. Paine.
Five thousand ninety bales of cotton were ginned in Denton county from November 1 to 14, 1914, creating a total of 29,289 bales by November 14. This compares with 40,915 bales on the same date last year and suggests only small quantities remain to be ginned in December. Local cotton men estimate the final crop around 35,000 bales, about 6,000 more after November 14.
Garza held a mass meeting at the school house to promote the Dallas Denton interurban. Dr D G Taylor chaired the session with E H Conibear proposing the venture. A central committee was appointed to secure right of way and advance the project with Dr Taylor added later.
In Baltimore on November 27 Harry W. Stabler, who had two hundred inches of skin burned away making skin grafts useless, was treated with a new method that uses chemically treated air on the burned surface. He was able to walk today.
The Denton Steam Laundry proclaims it maintains a superior finish for collars and cuffs. It asserts it has always set the standard in laundry work and that only a few can attain that level.
Thanksgiving services led by Rev. Dr. J. W. Caldwell at First Methodist and Central Presbyterian churches with a united pledge drive for United Charities. Treasurer S. O. Beall reports $151.40 disbursed, including $72.75 for Pasteur Institute treatment for three hydrophobia bitten children and nursing support for a mother.
A northbound Katy freight train of 47 empty cars was seen Wednesday afternoon, led by a single locomotive, passing through the area and drawing attention for its length.
The council retired six thousand dollars in four percent school bonds. The bonds arrived this week and were paid in full, marking a complete settlement of the debt.
It is reported this morning that there is no improvement in the condition of Mrs. M. E. Mounts, who is critically ill at the home of Mrs. Dr. A Lipscomb.
Police logged a burglary at L. L. Puckett's grocery Tuesday night. A small sum of money was taken from the cash drawer, with no other items missing. Investigators suspected youths may be involved, noting boards across a rear door were removed but gave no clues.
Earl Beckham of Terrell died Monday and funeral services were held Wednesday at Dalton Cemetery. His uncle M G Parkey, who traveled to Terrell to bring home the remains, said indications point to natural causes possibly a brain vasculature rupture. Three attendants aided in a bath when a scuffle occurred. Beckham and an attendant fell, but no bruises or marks were found.
S. H. Gunnels married Miss May Hopkins in Krum. The couple's ceremony linked local families and was noted in the marriage register.
Associated Press dispatch reports 184 wounded Federal troops in Juarez hospitals after a two day fight to retake Juarez. Villa’s forces are back in Juarez with 6,000 Constitutionalists, amid reports of captures and executions as fighting lines remain scattered near Mesa and Chihuahua City players.
Denton County breeders of sheep and swine again excel at the Fort Worth Fat Stock Show. The cream of swine exhibits comes to Denton, with Denton’s breeders standing high in the awards as top exhibitors and competitors.
Denton County firms and individuals sweep swine sheep and standard bred horses at the Fort Worth Fatstock Show. Robinson Bros. of Frisco win champion hog loads and multiple prize classes with top loads rivaling coast hogs. J J McKnight of Denton and A D Turner earn top placements in sheep and Shropshires. G V Miller Jr & Son of Denton claim standard bred stallions with Reckless Joe and champion stallion.
The Central Presbyterian Church women hold the annual Thanksgiving service at Mrs. F. E. Piner Sr. on West Hickory Street Friday at 3 PM. The program includes instrumental music by Miss Bertie Skiles, songs, devotional by Miss Harwell, Roll Call, and talks on Christian workers in New Mexico Utah and Agua Prieta plus a humor piece on Mormonism by Mrs. Anderson.

A formal requisition on Governor Colquitt is requested for Ed Dearman a Negro jailed at Chickasha. Dearman is charged with killing George Wells a Negro cotton picker at Kamy switch near Hebron last month. Sheriff Orr arrested Dearman this week and returned from Chickasha after learning he would not return without proper papers.
A fifteen day drive for the Y M C A and Y W C A raised $4,062,500. A building janitor donated a dollar intended for a Thanksgiving turkey, choosing to give to the campaign instead.
