Cotton Fire at Depot Ends With Heavy Loss on Platform

A fire at the depot early Tuesday morning destroyed twenty bales of cotton and damaged about thirty more on the platform. Most cotton belonged to Dallag Oil and Refining Co. and Planters' gin. Spark from a passing locomotive is the suspected cause. The blaze was fought by the fire department using a chemical engine and was brought under control after a long effort. Wind from the north helped spare the remaining stock of over 200 bales stored nearby. Full insurance covered losses on burned and damaged cotton.
