In Wytheville Virginia on May 4 Newton J Bevil testified that Floyd Allen warned he would resist prison by a “big hole” in the court if sentenced and threatened to kill unless adequately defended during the Hillsville murder trial.

Elbert Scroggins once from Denton is visiting relatives here. He says the Mexican situation is very critical and growing worse daily. He left his aunt and her children to safety and will soon return to resume his machinery importing business with his uncle after leaving civil engineering.
Ambassador Crespo told President Taft the rebellion would be ended within two weeks at most and that the Mexican people desired peace. The report places Crespo as Mexico’s retiring ambassador delivering a hopeful outlook to the U.S. president in Washington on May 4.
Emilio Vasquez Gomez was virtually made prisoner today when he visited Juarez. Rebel officials wired Orozco whether he should detain him.
The Denton lodge of Odd Fellows will decorate graves in the IOOF cemetery Sunday afternoon. Members meet at the hall on the north side of the square at 2 30 p m and march to the cemetery to place flowers on the dead. A memorial address will be delivered by a prominent Odd Fellow. Many Denton families are expected to decorate graves as usual.
Students at both colleges work through deficiency exams to clear conditions and ready for next week’s final examinations.
Col J F Wolters a U S Senate hopeful will speak in Krum Denton and Pilot Point this month on Monday May 3 starting 430 am 2 pm and 8 pm Local supporters will host an elaborate reception in his honor.
