Associated Press reports cotton in New Orleans fell nearly two dollars per bale due to heavy selling in the world’s three largest markets. Also, President Taft told the Senate there is no evidence of Japanese land purchase plans in Mexico, addressing Magdalena Bay concerns.
All Katy southbound trains run three to six hours late due to washouts in Kansas and Oklahoma. Detours over alternate routes are required, causing extensive delays for passengers and freight.
Un settled weather continues in New Orleans tonight and Thursday with chances of rain. Winds remain light to moderate as temperatures stay mild across the region.
Massachusetts delegates at large split in the Republican contest with eight for Taft and eighteen for Roosevelt. Col Roosevelt renounced his claim to eight at large slots, while Taft supporters press the state’s vote order. In Boston the tally shows Taft eighteen and Roosevelt eighteen for delegates to Chicago.

Boston May 1 Delegates divided as revised returns from 140 of 1080 districts show Republican Taft leading Roosevelt in the presidential race. Taft 84 948 Roosevelt 79 564 LaFollette 1 960. Roosevelt gains eight at large delegates. Taft sixteen. Roosevelt ten. In the Democratic primary Clark 32 972 Wilson 14 859 with low turnout. neither candidate won delegates at large.
Judge Greenwood formerly of Hillsboro now in Dallas will speak at the courthouse Thursday night on behalf of Gov Woodrow Wilson for president. He is described as a forceful speaker and a strong supporter of the Senate. Baley and the public are invited to hear him discuss issues in the presidential campaign.
H. E. Edwards, a Texas resident for over thirty years, reports that the wheat and oat prospects are as good as ever except for one year. He notes that the crops are in the boot stage, and recent cool weather with a light Sunday shower has materially benefited them.
Inquiries have come regarding Sunday as decoration day at the Odd Fellows cemetery. The I O O F lodge announced the annual decoration service will be held next Sunday in May at the cemetery, as previously noted in the daily.

Associated Press dispatch from Jacksonville Florida May 1 reports Oscar Underwood led Woodrow Wilson in the Florida presidential primary as incomplete returns favored Underwood. The tally suggested a clear edge for Underwood amid early vote counts.
Governor Foss was not listed on the presidential preferential ballot yet won the Democratic delegates at large in Boston. The Associated Press dispatch notes Foss’s name missing from the ballot but supports his delegate gains.
Senator Bailey addressed a 2200 strong crowd in Wanahachie seeking to explain his decision not to run again for the Senate. He argued prohibition would not affect his duties and endorsed Harmon as the likely nominee, expressing admiration for Clark and Underwood.
Jacksonville May 1 early reports indicate that Underwood had likely won Florida over Woodrow Wilson though the final result remained uncertain and still in doubt.

Mrs Nanne Bradley wife of Judge S M Bradley died at the family home west of the city after a short illness from erysipelas following a nose scratch last Saturday. She was about 48, survived by husband and four children Lillian George Grover Mamie Jack. Funeral at the home Thursday at 10 with internment in I O O F cemetery. In county court the jury returned 225 for A E Brewer vs C S McMath Co after offset of 159 claimed by defendants. Other orders: Cowan vs Merchants and Fort Worth and Denver. judgment 75 and costs. First National Bank of Denton vs Carlton debt foreclosure continued. Minor estate Renfro: guardian annual account approved.
Austin residents approved a $750000 bond measure on May 1 to fund local improvements. Affected projects and spending details were not provided in the available text.
