In Austin on March 264 the House debated the Cureton Farmers Union measure with the clerk reading 20 of 65 pages. Fitzhugh challenged the lack of an enacting clause while Mobley argued for passage pending amendment. Nickells pressed to pass as is per Farmers Union support, despite the omission. Hill Crawford sent a message to the Farmers Union president asking for permission to amend or permit a rewrite.
In Austin on March 26 the House postponed further action on the board of health bill delaying it to next Monday. The chamber approved four experiment stations including locations in Central Texas Panhandle rice regions and black land counties Denton County is listed among them. The debate over other bills stalled progress while amendments to Robertson life insurance were approved allowing graduated tax to apply only to companies investing reserves in Texas real estate loans. The Senate has mostly waited on per diem and expenses bills, with little movement on the experiment stations measure.
Col. Peter F. Ross of Waco and brother of former Governor L. S. Ross died at 11 36 this morning at his daughter Mrs J S Rice home in Houston. He was a pioneer and noted Indian fighter of Texas. Funeral arrangements not completed.
Mrs. Floyd Throckmorton, daughter-in-law of former Texas governor, died in McKinney after a long illness at age 45.
Cleburne Texas March 26 Early Brown a veteran of the Mexican and Civil wars and a prominent financier died at his home last night at age 0 years He had been in feeble health recently and had resided in Cleburne for twenty years
