An explosion in Dunmore near Scranton today killed nine people and injured two, with reports that two families were affected. The blast occurred in the morning, sending debris and smoke across the area as emergency crews arrived.
The state rested its case in the arson trial of Dr. W. H. Swearingen at 11 o'clock Wednesday and the defense began testimony. The jury for the sixth week of District court includes McKinney, Dyer, Hill, Phillips, Huffhines, Magee, Cagle, Dixon, Moffitt, and many others.
Crop total stands at 16 050 319 bales with 239 146 bales already unpicked yet. Exceeding all estimates, the season has surpassed prior projections as farmers report bumper yields.
