The L O T M M Denton Hive No 915 presented the Denton Fire Department with a $30 token of esteem donated partly by the American Hustler. The presentation was read with applause and notes were sent to local papers. Saint Patrick’s Day is celebrated locally with Irish pride and reminders of Patrick’s life and missions.
The city expresses gratitude to the ladies and all attendees of the recent benefit performance at the Wright Opera House. Acknowledgment is given to S. S. Ball for his recent option, and the department notes appreciation for the citizens' support and contributions to the town.
The county plans a large gathering of all Boys Corn Growers Clubs in the Chamber of Commerce rooms. Hon A C Owsley delivers the welcome, with talks by J N Rayzor, Wm Ganzer, Prof J W Beaty, and C E Scruggs. Wm Ganzer, U S Department of Agriculture agent, has organized the program. The event aims to advance farming among 2316 youth members. The meeting is not for the boys.
Austin dispatch reports the Court of Criminal Appeals reversed and remanded E C Gaines of Comanche county manslaughter conviction from Hoog county. The reversal cites trial errors. Gaines, a former Comanche county representative, ran against J W Reeves. Reeves was shot and died during the campaign after a bitter election.
Verge Austin a white man charged with train riding and Walter Berry a negro charged with disturbance were placed in the county jail. Austin was arrested at Justin and Berry at Garza. Two more boarders were added to Jailor Yerby's list Wednesday.
