Negro lynching shocks Anadarko Oklahoma crowd

Bea ns Simmons an 18 year old black man accused of assault and murder was seized from the jail by about 1000 residents at 3 am in Anadarko Oklahoma and hanged from a tree. The victim Susie Church aged 16 was attacked as she rode home on horseback. A plainclothes man pursued the suspect but he denied the crime and begged for life as the mob jeered.

Funeral services for L S Forester a prominent Denton ranchman who died Wednesday were held at his ranch home. Rev O Cooper led a prayer and scripture reading and a life sketch was given. The service ended with a sermon on the ministry of sorrow and interment at Bolivar cemetery.
