In 1913 a bank invites readers to consider safety and service, promising resources exceeding $600000 and unmatched service. Officers listed include A. J. Nance president J. R. Chastal vice president C. Coit cashier E. D. Curtis assistant cashier with H. Paine Ed. F. Bates Dr. J. M. Inge and A. C. Owsley on the board.
The coldest winter spell hit Monday with a reading of 18 below, shattering the previous low from November. The drop followed a warm Saturday and a cloudy Sunday, as a fresh northerly wind pushed temperatures down from 32 at midnight to 18 by 6 30 AM with sleet and rain creating slick walks.
Due to an accident to the synotype motor the Record and Chronicle prints today with less news than usual. The disruption delays the regular run but the paper resumes normal coverage in the next issue.
County Clerk records show 1912 births at 590 plus 105 new residents, totaling 695. Deaths appear far lower with about 185, suggesting a birth surplus and fewer city deaths. marriages reached 364 licenses with 48 divorces, roughly one-third of all suits.
A state paper failed to include Senator James R. Wiley in the legislators list due to relying on an outdated clipping. The error occurred after the list was published and not cross checked with the corrected roster.
