An army of 4 000 revolutionary troops attacked Hankow yesterday evening. An imperial force estimated at 30 000 occupies the city. Fierce fighting is in progress as the clash continues.
Senator La Follette on a three day speaking tour through Michigan and Ohio reports positive receptions. Dispatch notes support from party members citing favorable reactions in Ohio and Detroit area as he begins the new year.
Nearly 200 delegates from across Ohio converge in Columbus for the first conference of Republican progressives to decide on a candidate for the Republican presidential nomination.
Friends of Speaker Champ Clark in St Louis said there is no possibility he will withdraw from the presidential nomination race. Associated Press dispatch states Clark remains a contender as the campaign unfolds.
The Katy cotton report shows Denton county shipments through November 30 totaling 18 839 bales with an expected 6 460 more, a season total of 25 299 versus last year 26 072. Pilot Point leads last year. this year Denton likely moves to second with Lewisville third.

The 1911 year proved highly successful for Denton national banks. Exchange National paid a 10 percent dividend and added 20 000 to surplus. Denton County National issued a 10 percent semi annual dividend plus another 10 percent in July. First National declared 6 percent with a prior 6 percent in July. Fleet and Denton County Nationals boosted undivided profits. surplus funds stood at 54 000 and 20 000 respectively.
