Legislature Sets Dates for Dallas Visit and Board Fight
The Texas House accepted Dallas invitation 93 to 25 but chose March 5 and 6 for the junket, forcing a Senate-House date clash. Speaker Kennedy backed the trip to counter the Robertson anti racing bill and show unity with Dallas. The Senate killed a bill creating a state optometry board, while McGowan’s eminent domain bill for telephone companies faced House defeat.
