Eight Indictments Charging Perjury in Steubenville Probe

Steubenville Ohio December 5 The grand jury probing election corruption returned eight indictments charging perjury. It had a list of 600 witnesses to summon. One man received a shotgun as a vote gift and tossed the weapon into a river when confidences were breached. The candidate sought to recall the gift.

Taft may be asked to act on Mexico border report

The Senate subcommittee on Mexico's border prepared to present a report alleging United States capital supported Madero and that U S policy favored him during revolutions. Testimony suggests arms shipments into Mexico were repeatedly allowed in Madero's interests and Taft's attention may be drawn to the findings.

Interstate Commerce Commission Has No Jurisdiction

The Interstate Commerce Commission ruled it cannot require exporters to issue through bills of lading at Galveston, lacking authority over ocean carriers. It warned public interest demands through bills of lading and noted Texas cotton logistics would suffer without them. The decision also found higher demurrage charges at Galveston after Jan 1 would be unlawful discrimination.

Fire at Gallesville causes ten thousand dollar loss

Gainesville reports a fire last night in Dr. Vawter's office within the Price building. The blaze spread to the Johnson Furniture Co. store and other premises, causing an estimated loss of $10,000. Firefighters contained the blaze with no injuries reported.
