Steubenville Ohio December 5 The grand jury probing election corruption returned eight indictments charging perjury. It had a list of 600 witnesses to summon. One man received a shotgun as a vote gift and tossed the weapon into a river when confidences were breached. The candidate sought to recall the gift.
The Senate subcommittee on Mexico's border prepared to present a report alleging United States capital supported Madero and that U S policy favored him during revolutions. Testimony suggests arms shipments into Mexico were repeatedly allowed in Madero's interests and Taft's attention may be drawn to the findings.
Government officials and the U S district attorney of Texas met in Washington to decide whether to dismiss for lack of evidence the Dallas indictments against Standard Oil officers and others in the Magnolia Petroleum case alleging Sherman law violations.
In Washington on December 5, Democratic and Progressive Republican senators blocked quick confirmation of Taft era nominations. Texas postoffice nominees are held in the Senate committee on postoffices. Only a few diplomatic posts spared. Phil B. Baer nominated for U S marshal of the Northern district of Texas.
Jesus Flores Magon former Mexican interior minister who resigned after a clash with President Madero over the Japanese question has become head of another revolt. Magon, brother of Ricardo Flores Magon, has united Emiliano Zapata in the south with Inez Salazar in the north to challenge the Madero regime.

Dr W H Bruce of the Normal college returned downtown Thursday after a period of illness described as the grip. Faculty members teased him about his previously boasted health as the grip seized him and kept him from duties for several days.
The Interstate Commerce Commission ruled it cannot require exporters to issue through bills of lading at Galveston, lacking authority over ocean carriers. It warned public interest demands through bills of lading and noted Texas cotton logistics would suffer without them. The decision also found higher demurrage charges at Galveston after Jan 1 would be unlawful discrimination.
The Domestic Science seniors at the C. I. A. present a series of formal dinners for the faculty. The Dec 3 event serves twelve guests with ten students per section, four as housekeepers and waitresses, as they practice economical menus. Decorations feature red colors, ferns, Richmond roses, and poinsettias on the table with red candles.
Pecos dispatch reports the jury in the murder trial of Mrs. Agnes Orner could not reach a verdict and was discharged yesterday. The case concerns the death of her daughter and proceeding details remain unresolved.

Denton county officials expect no fee bill reports after a light November vote. The fee law applies only to counties with at least 3,000 votes, Denton tallying about 2,800. If no report is due, excess fees may not be turned into the treasury, affecting the county clerk, tax collector, and assessor.

Gainesville reports a fire last night in Dr. Vawter's office within the Price building. The blaze spread to the Johnson Furniture Co. store and other premises, causing an estimated loss of $10,000. Firefighters contained the blaze with no injuries reported.
