The Denton County National Bank lists officers and directors including W. B. McClurkan as President and J. L. Blewett as Vice President. B. H. Deavenport serves as Cashier with R. M. Barns as Assistant Cashier. other directors include D. R. Turner, W. J. McCraw, J. F. Raley, and G. H. Blewett.
Galveston reports a new world record for cotton receipts in the year ending today with a total of 4,035,114 bales. The figure stands as the highest annual cotton intake on record, reflecting the city's peak season through August 30.

An expected 500 students and teachers will attend C I A Day on the first Saturday in November, coinciding with A M day.
Andrew J. Conley died from a bullet wound after a confrontation with Tina McDaniel in Dallas. McDaniel claimed she fired a pistol she believed unloaded and remarked she was a good marksman. The incident occurred August 30 and was reported by the Associated Press.
J. N. Sugg of Denton married Mrs. Essie Moody of Dallas in a ceremony at the First Methodist parsonage conducted by Rev. C. T. Cooper. The couple will reside temporarily with Mrs. Florence Carter at 4 South Locust Street.

Meanwhile USS Louisiana sustains no damage after hitting a reef during target practice. Secretary Bryan in Doylestown calls Mexican talks encouraging and comments on John Lind's status in Vera Cruz. Lind remains there as Washington Mexico talks loom. A 1 million peso loan flotation by three local banks boosts optimism.
Forecast calls for tonight and Sunday generally fair. Readings from the Experiment Farm show Friday high around 102 and low near 71.
Fort Worth on August 30 Judge Brown exonerates the grand jury of conspiracy charges in the Norris case. The ruling clears the panel of alleged involvement in the disputed conspiracy.
The Sixty-Seventh District Court Grand Jury probe into alleged indicting of innocents to shield another in the First Baptist Church fire was extended to 10 a.m. today. Judge Brown ordered the hearing continued after new information arrived and sought Dallas witness Clarence Miller amid progress to compel his testimony.
In Oregon City on August 30 a wealthy Indian woman named Elien Deering Gangerow won her ninth divorce for desertion and awarded her ex-husband two thousand dollars alimony.

Thaw will be produced in court Tuesday on a habeas corpus writ sought by Police Chief Boudreau who claims liability for damages if the arrest is found illegal. The move aims to thwart Thaw’s lawyers who hoped to keep him jailed. Jerome arranged the wrinkle, and Montreal telegraph hinted at the tactic.
In Pittsburgh on the Ohio River seven men were killed and six injured when the boilers of a tow boat exploded this morning. All the deceased were crew members.

Washington Aug 30 The Senate postponed consideration of the cotton future tax amendment to the tariff bill until Monday. Senator Clarke of Arkansas, author of the amendment, asked the delay to prepare stronger support. Senator Smith of South Carolina plans a substitute limiting deliveries to within two grades of cotton per the sale contract.
The Republican Congressional committee organized and outlined plans for upcoming campaigns with Representative Woods of Iowa elected chairman. He said the work would focus on informing voters rather than directly aiding individual candidates. Senator Brandegee, Representatives Kahn and Patten were named vice chairmen and John A. Eversmat of Illinois was chosen secretary.
Dr. W. H. Bruce of North Texas State Normal has accepted a position as mathematics teacher in the local college after approval by Prof. J. P. Downer of Paris. Downer, former Paris High School principal, approves the appointment. Remodeling work continues at the Normal college with updates to offices and the old library areas.
Galveston bankers agreed to accept a $500000 Government deposit to aid moving crops to market. The funds will be shared equally by First National and City National Banks and redistributed to other banks in the city. The decision signals support for Federal policy more than easing fall finance.
