An alleged scheme to kill Kentucky Representative Johnson, chairman of the District of Columbia committee, was disclosed with a sworn statement made to Johnson. Johnson, aggressive in stance, says he knows about it but would not discuss the alleged plot today.
Scores of gamblers fled New York city as subpoena servers hunted witnesses for the John Doe graft inquiry. Only four gamblers were located yesterday, leaving officials seeking more testimonies in the probe.
