Gov Colquitt issued a proclamation setting the November election. It provides for 20 presidential electors 16 Congressmen and two at large 13 state officers 13 appellate judges 15 state senators 142 representatives 65 district judges 3 criminal judges and 4 district attorneys.
N Rigger aged 28 committed suicide at Texarkana by shooting himself on a truck at Union Station. A note stated he was from Norwich Conn and that death was the only way out after leading a fast life.

Oyster Bay August 19 Col. Roosevelt issued a statement denying a published interview quoting Senator Penrose that $25,000 from Standard Oil was sent in 1904 to the Republican Committee in New York for Roosevelt. He said if true it was without his knowledge.
The new ten thousand dollar statue of Stephen F. Austin is being built by Pompeo Coppini in San Antonio. The completed model has approval from the Governor, and the statue will stand over Austin's grave in the Austin Cemetery.

Mayor Bates calls on Denton residents to contribute to the Old Settlers Reunion dinners on Friday and Saturday the 23rd and 24th. Barbecued meats bread and relishes will be provided with additional dishes welcomed to enhance the picnic feast. Citizens are urged to attend and enjoy the two day event.
Denton faces a severe housing shortage with virtually every house occupied including new homes. Real estate men report hundreds ready to move but no vacant rentals, as outside inquiries pour in and the Chamber of Commerce replies that rent houses are very hard to secure. Many come for the schools but gainsay finding a place to live.

Selections drawn from a list of thirty names submitted by state college and university leaders. Governor selections limited to this list.
Examinations for state and county certificates will occur in the County Superintendent’s office on Thursday Friday and Saturday September 5 6 and 7. Officials say state permanent certificates are Thursday state second grade Friday and state first and second grade Saturday, with County Supt McCook in charge and available for requirements.
Alfred G Fitch of Richmond borough was shot by Mrs Elizabeth Evans on the way to his office this morning. Three shots struck him and the woman was arrested. Authorities believe the attacker was deranged.
