An axeman attempts a second murder of James Dashier, his wife, and their four children in San Antonio. In darkness the attacker struck the wife on the arm as she slept, missing her head, the screams alerting other family members.
Intense interest surrounds the Houston examining trial begun today for Rusp Finch charged with murdering R. H. Roatner. Finch's divorced wife was to wed Boamer and his six year old son is a principal witness.
The Wehrather report notes Friday and Saturday generally fair in New Orleans with no precipitation expected. Highs and lows not specified but pleasant conditions anticipated for the weekend.
Several hundred rebels encamped opposite Columbus have left for the interior of Mexico after American forces prevented them from obtaining 56000 rounds of ammunition. Federals massed south of the city prepared to take possession once rebels depart.
