Leave the Farm First and Foremost in American Life
A historic editorial argues for farming as a safe, honorable and wealth-stable occupation contrary to city clerkship temptations. It warns that speculation and rapid wealth ruin many merchants and praises the farmer as essential to daily bread and community health. The piece criticizes postwar Louisiana reconstruction policies and cites Congressmen and officers to challenge Radical-era reforms. It also notes corrections regarding a misprint in an editorial.
