X Ray Clinic Set At Pineville Health Dept October First

Oak Hill Democrats Elect Officers and Scout Awards

Oak Hill Mrs J 5 Keatley was elected president of the Oak Hill Democrat Woman's Club at a Thursday meeting in the Oak Hill Elementary School. Officers include E R Amole vice president Hattie G Biggs treasurer and Mary Walton secretary. Cub Scout Pack 125 met at the City Recreation Hall with Den No 3 named honor den. Awards were presented to multiple cubs and leaders as 41 cubs 40 parents 10 visitors and 20 den leaders attended.

Mitchell Infant’s Funeral Rites Held

Graveside services were held Thursday afternoon for Ronald Gene Mitchell day old son of Mr and Mrs Paul Mitchell of Pineville who died at 2 am Tuesday. Rites were conducted at Hickory Ridge Cemetery on Micajah Ridge. He is survived by his parents and a brother Parkey age one.

Stabbing Sends One to Hospital and Man Jailed

At Oak Hill a Long Stand man is jailed in Fayette County on no bond while Phillip Humphrey a white garageman remains hospitalized after being stabbed Friday night. Clarence Penn 26 is arraigned before Magistrate Virgil Lyons with deputies and state police detailing the incident. Humphrey is reported not seriously harmed and is being treated at Beckley Veterans Hospital.

Mission Society Meets at Home of Mrs Shumate

Members of the Women's Missionary Society of the First Baptist Church gathered Thursday at Mrs. Ella Shumate's home. Program leader Mrs. Martha Bell Hurley spoke on Who is my Neighbor with several members taking parts before Hurley offered the closing prayer. The next meeting will be hosted by Mrs. French Lilly with Mrs. Jess Cook presenting.
