Lucian Posey Bridges 62 of Milburn dies after a weeklong illness in St Francis Hospital Charleston. Born Ferrum Virginia he was a mine worker and United Mine Workers Local 5948 member. Funeral at Milburn Community Church with Rev O Hi Huffman 2 p.m. Sunday. burial in High Lawn Memorial Park Oak Hill. Survivors include wife Agatha three brothers four sisters three sons three daughters six grandchildren. Body to be moved to residence Saturday afternoon then to church one hour before services. Active pallbearers named.

Oak Hill Beta Theta Sorority prepares candidate names for the Business Woman of the Year contest at the request of the Oak Hill Business and Professional Women's Club. Miss Ruth Easton led a sorority meeting at the Episcopal parish house Tuesday night. The group announced $445.85 raised for the Cancer Drive and another $26.50 from a bake sale. The program featured poetry art and music with remarks on Dante the Mahal and The Hanging Gardens of Babylon. Mary Elizabeth Thomas performed pieces by Handel Wagner Debussy and Chopin.
