Landon Attacks New Deal Trade Pacts Aimed at Farmers
Gov Alf Landon urged Minnesota crowds to protect the American market for farmers and oppose New Deal reciprocal treaties. He argued for trade based on American needs while opposing agreements he called harmful. He pledged Republican isolationism, praised a prosperous world as war insurance, and urged farmers to trust the Republican party. The article notes a bereaved family in Raleigh with the death of an infant, to be buried this afternoon.
