Today in Beckley and Nearby Curiosities
A quirky Beckley column notes Ben Shumate predicting cloudy skies due to the atmosphere and moonshine, mocks a school zone sign carved by a clever local, and recounts tales from potato dogs to a colored man’s cold checks ending at Raleigh county jail. It riffs on fashion, old-time stats, and jokes about Salt Sulphur Springs and a Soviet health budget figure.
