Raleigh county Aeronautics Chapter organized for aviation advancement
A Raleigh county chapter of the National Aeronautics Association was temporarily formed with Robert Lowell Davis as president and W R Fugitt as secretary. The group, about 20 citizens, aims to draft a proposed constitution with Fugitt Carlyn A Bibb and Stuart B Angell handling it. A permanent organization will be set up at the September 28 meeting at the Memorial building. Davis urged affiliation with the N A A to boost local aviation and noted Southern West Virginia lags behind with only one airport funded by the federal government, unlike seven in the north, proposing an airport near Beckley and airparks with 3,000 foot landing strips in the county.
