Raleigh County School Board Served With Federal Summons
All five Raleigh County Board of Education members and the superintendent received federal summonses in a desegregation case filed by T. G. Nutter of the NAACP. The plan seeks expeditious desegregation across all 12 grades, challenging the West Virginia constitution’s provisions as violative of the 14th Amendment. The board plans an answer within 20 days and a court date will be set by Judge Ben Moore.
