Mrs Bisann Cook returned from Lewisburg visit with Jack Stepp family. Weekend guests at Stepp's in Lewisburg included Wanna Coon and Date Cook with children. Man Hurt In Road Accident Involving Boomer Driver

A State Readjust Commission supervisor Herman Harrah Victor admitted to Laird Memorial Hospital for a broken nip and jaw from an automantic accident Sunday. Norval Stanley 53 of Boomer pulled into the road in front of Harrah’s truck. Stanley was arrested on a drunk driving charge and arraigned before Magistrate Mullins of Ansted. Estimated damage was 30 dollars to the pickup and 400 to Stanley’s car. Roy Kelly of Minden was jailed on a capias issued by Judge Garvin Jr. Deputy Sheriff Buddy Crouch arrested Kelly.

Autopsy on Joe Deramus 71 Glen Jean is postponed awaiting next of kin Sidney Deramus of Birmingham Alabama. Deramus died at Beckier Hospital at 7 am Saturday after a three week illness. He was a retired miner and United Mine Workers member. Born March 32 in Alabama. Survivors include sister Frances Goodman Armstrong Alabama and daughter Mac nella Clethen Montgomery Alabama. Burial at Collins Funeral Home Glen Jean with arrangements incomplete until relatives arrive.

Fayetteville football team member among crash injuries

Four Fayetteville residents injured in a Saturday night automobile collision after returning from a Morgan town game. Robert Wendell suffered facial lacerations after being thrown into a windshield. Joe Bill Bess and others received various injuries. The two cars were heavily damaged.

Sleep Aid Tragedy Claims Gauley Bridge Mother of Five

Mrs Medeline Dobbs Cotton, a young mother of five, died Wednesday from an overdose of sleeping pills. She was taken to a Montgomery hospital after an unsuccessful attempt to awaken her, dying late in the day. She is survived by her husband, parents, four daughters and a son.

Pawelec Funeral Planned for Tuesday at Oceana

Funeral services for Walner F. Pawelec 70 will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the Tyree Funeral Home chapel in Oceana. Pawelec, a retired New River Coal Co. employee, died Saturday night at his Scarba home after a heart attack. He was born in Poland and will be buried in the Odd Fellows Cemetery.

One Hospitalized One Jailed in Glen Jean Fight

Glen Jean woman Algie Morgen was jailed in Fayette County on felonious assault and carrying a pistol after a Saturday night fight near Gladys Inn. Morgen posted a $1,300 bond and was to appear before Magistrate Virgil Lyons. deputy O B Legz reported Morgen cut in several places while tied to the case. Let tie Logan, the other participant, is hospitalized in Oak Hill with a gunshot wound and faces no charges yet. Deputy Pete Withrow aided the investigation.

Pettus Parent Teachers Association outlines a spaghetti dinner in late November to raise funds for a hard top basketball court. Missions on Program at Methodist Church Meeting

The Women’s Society of Christian Service presented a program titled As the Waters Cover the Sea at the First Methodist Church in Fayetteville. Led by Mrs Alfred Bibb and assistants, the event described home missions at Mother's Memorial Center Friendship Home and Esther Hall in Cincinnati and Peek Home in Polo Illinois, and foreign sites Hiroshima Jo Gakium and Aoyama Gakium University in Japan. About 15 Collins High School students from Tri Hi Y and Hi Y attended the King Coal District fall meeting at Glen Rogers High School. A panel on Youth and Christ was provided by four members. Each club presented this year’s program and reviewed past activities. The next district gathering is scheduled for Oak Hill.

Ceremony elevates 16 Brownies to Girl Scouts in Fayetteville

In Fayetteville on Thursday afternoon, 16 Brownies advanced to Girl Scouts in a ceremony at the Memorial Auditorium library. Parents attended as wings and pins were awarded by troop leaders Mrs. Max Neubert and Mrs. Buren Renick. The American Legion Auxiliary sponsors the troop. Three Injured in Mullens Incidents Saturday

Two persons were injured in falls and a third hurt when struck with a poker. Bessie Branch entered Wyoming General Hospital at 4 30 p m with a head cut from a stove poker. Mrs Emil D Hill fractured a finger in a fall at Covel and Calvin Smith punctured his eyelid after tripping on a board. All were treated at Mullens hospital.
