A Sophia man Everette Wayne Necessary being taken to Raleigh County jail Wednesday night pulled a knife on two officers and refused to go farther. He was charged with rape on a warrant from Magistrate Lorena Wallace for the Oct. 14 attack on a 14 year old. Officers also charged him with resisting arrest and carrying a weapon without a license.

Beckley Man Charged With Marijuana Sale and Possession
Beckley detectives arrested Freddie Basham 20 of Austin Avenue at 2 p.m. on sale and possession of marijuana. He waived to the Raleigh County grand jury and posted a $500 bond. Two Red Ash juveniles, aged 15 and 16, were held in protective custody after a gas station break-in near Red Ash. Tools valued at $1,200 were stolen from a Sterling Smokeless Coal Co. site near Resaco with no arrests. State police jailed Roy Robertson for drunken driving and carrying a deadly weapon without a license. Others jailed include Vernon Little on warrants and Arnold Hicks and Sampson Estep for absence without leave.

Two Deaths on West Virginia Roads Raise Toll
