Local Church Programs Highlight Community Ed and Radio Outreach
In the past decade local churches have expanded programs in high schools and community roles while pastors like Dr. Perry E. Gresham and George McGhee guide statewide conventions. The Bradley area hosts Bible institute faculty and radio shows such as Miracles and Melodies as congregations plan fall meetings and mission efforts across Raleigh County, Beckley, and surrounding churches.

Beckley urged to build coal museum as tourist lure
A Wheeling study urged Beckley to develop a 304000 coal museum beside its Exhibition Mine to draw up to 75000 visitors yearly. The two facilities would share funding from state and private coal interests, with a plan for a two story museum, a 140 seat auditorium, a shop, kitchen, and exhibit space. The report notes the Stotesbury Coal Town Museum already draws about 4000 annual visitors and recommends joint promotion with Beckley.
