Turnpike Accident Kills Two in West Virginia Crash
A 23 year old Huntington woman Christina Cunningham Williams and her 13 month old son David were killed when their car left the West Virginia Turnpike near Milepost 28 eight miles south of Beckley. Two other Williams children, Gregory 6 and Lillian 4, were injured and a temporary visitor pass found in the car suggested entry from Camp Lejeune. Police noted the car veered into a rock cliff on the right side of the highway. Police said Mrs Williams, believed en route from Camp Lejeune to Huntington, was later identified as daughter of Isabella Cunningham and the late David I Cunningham. The wreck occurred after the driver entered the Turnpike at Princeton at 6:14 a.m. and was reported to Beckley around 7:00 a.m. The car was removed at the Beckley Interchange. Lt. Roy G. Coen led the Turnpike Police investigation with Troopers Rodebaugh and Seymore.

Bertha Anthony Hartrick, 51, of 3914 Lancaster Ave Charleston, died in Charleston General Hospital after an extended illness. A Beckley resident for 10 years, she earlier worked at Raleigh Junk Co. Three Sprague Men Face Jury Action

Three masked men tied up Huberta Coal Co night watchman Guy Suffelette at the mine near Follansbee, burned an open safe with an acetylene torch, stole 40 dollars, and left the watchman tied.
