Changes In Voting Laws Are Obeyed
In Charleston a legislative subcommittee approved several election law proposals on Monday. One bill would lift spending restrictions on campaigns and require reporting of all expenses, with radio and TV ads currently exempt. Another would name the secretary of state as chief selections officer, preserving his role as chief voter registration officer. A separate bill would permit electronic voting machines at elections. The measures go to the joint committee on government and finance before being sent to the 1969 legislature.
