No Candidates File For Short Term On Board
The Raleigh County Board of Education vacancy created by O A Phillips resignation prompts a filing deadline today for candidates. If no candidate files, A Mac Carpenter likely remains interim until an elected successor takes office January 1. An opinion from the attorney general says the appointed incumbent remains until successors are chosen and qualified. Candidates must file by the required date on a nonpartisan ballot, at least 30 days before the November general election.
