Third grade arithmetic sought for Earl McBride aid
A Beckley column details Earl McBride eight, from Fitzpatrick, needing a third grade arithmetic book. He sold flowers to fund schooling, while his family struggles financially. The piece urges sending arithmetic to the Fitzpatrick school or Fred Lilly for delivery, and notes Lincoln’s education to frame the plea. It also reports a separate comic note about Jacob Courey's alleged kidnapping among Assyrians and a hunt-season quip.
