Oak Hill Garden Club members gathered to plan beautification efforts for Oak Hill, including by pass island plantings, tree donations, and a suggested Christmas lighting plan. The group heard updates from committees on garden therapy, civic projects, and district meetings, with SRC approval sought for planned plantings.
Mullens Scout Troop 121 sponsored by American Legion Post 106 held a Court of Honor at the Legion Hall. Ernest Lesler Jr. and Robert Hodson, both Mullens High School seniors, received the Eagle Scout award. Ernest plans to attend West Virginia University and Robert will enter Virginia Tech. Other awards included Life Scouts Ronnie Cook Warren Hylton Ronnie Johnson and Wetzel Young. Star Scouts Winkie Houck Charles Feller ne Lewis and Junior Gibson. RST Class Scout awards went to George Fordham Toby Bright Charles Phillips Danny Belcher Randy David Coffman and Steve Staton. Four new tender foot scouts were welcomed: Denny Houck Roger Gibson Steve Feller and Mike Dodson. A large crowd included Jack Lewis and Charles Trout of Bluefield.
First grade students under Mrs. Kuhn presented a musical program at Pineville Grade School No. 2 PTA meeting. George Nolley praised staff and model Grade No. 2, urged dropout prevention and spiritual life. committee appointments announced. first nine weeks grades will use progress sheets for all first graders.
George Nolley of Wyoming County Schools addressed Pineville Par ent-Teacher Association at Pineville Grade School No 2. Murray Morgan, principal, welcomed attendees. Mrs James C. Lyons, president, and Mrs Edgar Miller joined the refreshment committee for the coming year.
