The Coast Guard abandoned a five day search for 28 missing on the Liberian tanker Keo believed sunk off Nantucket Island after eight bodies were recovered. Ships in the area were asked to look for more debris or bodies as the 639 foot vessel broke up in a violent storm.

United Press International reports striking coal miners in southern West Virginia returned to work, with miners in the Northern Panhandle and Eastern Ohio slated to resume this afternoon. About 1,000 idle in Wyoming and Boone counties last week due to railroad coal car shortages, and 1,870 Local 1601 miners ordered back to the afternoon shift at 1212 mines, follow a week of wildcat action sparked by an accident at the Allison Mine in Beallsville, Ohio.

14 Year Old Fails In Jet Hijack Effort
