Troy Earl Painter 52 East Kingston died at his home at 11 p m Thursday of a heart attack. He owned a chicken farm in Fayette County. Born May 12 1905 at Dothan he was a son of G L Painter and the late Leiuwada Pegram Painter. Surviving are his wife Nannie Belle Proffitt Painter a son Jansen a daughter Mrs B F Holsticne and two grandchildren. The body was taken to Tyree Funeral Home Oak Hill pending arrangements.

Turkey Dip Man Drowns In Devil's Hole Waters
George Hughes Jr. 25 of Turkey Dip drowned Thursday in Devil's Hole at Laurel Fork. His body was recovered at about 7:30 p.m. by volunteers after fellow swimmer John Berta Jr. failed to save him. Mrs. Berta heard her son call for help and then announce the drowning. Local authorities, fire departments, and Oceanа police aided in the rescue. Rudolph Tilly removed the body from the 10 foot deep water. death was ruled drowning by Dr. Hatfield. Hughes is survived by his widow and two stepchildren. arrangements are pending at Evans Funeral Home.
