Pinecrest Grant Sought for New Hospital Unit at Pinecrest
John Baker White, treasurer of the state board of control, asked for 260000 to build a hospital unit at Pinecrest Sanitarium as part of a 673000 request for repairs and additions to state institutions. The planned building would house about 150 patients and resemble the main unit though smaller. White said 100 patients are on the waiting list and he was off to Washington to expedite the grants.

The sheriff's office announced that the deadline for 1935 tax payments to avoid delinquency falls on Saturday June 6. Ferry capsizes killing forty children in Czechoslovakia

Forest Fire Rages Across South Jersey Coastline
In New Gretna on May 26 a massive forest fire swept the South Jersey coastal plain near Atlantic City. Five dead and at least seventeen missing. Hundreds of fire fighters volunteers and CCC workers fought the blaze along a wide front with Col Leonidas Coyle directing from an airplane. Stanley Carr, 23, of Waretown was tentatively identified among the dead. All the dead and missing were New Jersey residents.

Auto Collision Suit Launched In Flat Top Area

Amos Quebec May 26 four passengers and Pilot W H Clarke of General Airways were killed in a crash at Chibou gamau Lake about 100 miles northeast of here. Also dead are W Milne a mechanic and Leo Springer mining executive of Ceres Explorations. Names of the other two victims were not released. The party was returning to Rouyn. Police chief A Mahone said first reports came around 4 p m. A Gath Edwards pilot located the wreck and returned to Rouyn. The crash is the first fatality in 12 years from Rouyn Noranda bases. Clarke had flown since 1928. His widow and child survive.

The British tanker San Salvador reported to Lloyds that 26 men were lost when the steam trawler Picador sank after colliding in North Sea dense fog.
