Beckley Manufacturing workers vote on final settlement proposal
A Sunday vote by Beckley Manufacturing Corporation workers on the final settlement of a three week strike drew 306 voters, with 190 opposing and 116 supporting. The minority opinion, less than 25 percent, would block more than 800 workers from returning. The company proposes 1966 1967 contract raises, higher incentive base rates, and increased guarantee rates for both newer and older employees, and stated no further concessions will be made.
