Farm Market Signals Higher Hog Prices Push Up Chief Market
Hog producers cheer as prices rise across major corn belt markets with top hog prices climbing from 14.75 to 16.50 per 100 pounds in six sessions. Analysts see potential for 18 and even 20 by mid-summer amid expectations of herd cuts and higher feed costs. USDA officials caution about ample hog supplies and weather-driven harvest dynamics. Meat trade shifts reflect weaker beef demand and steady cattle futures amid mixed livestock price moves.
