Pioneer Pilot E F Stone Dies At 49 In San Diego
Commander E F Stone co pilot of the first aircraft to cross the Atlantic died of a heart attack. He was pilot on the N C 4 flying boat that completed the 1919 Newfound land to Plymouth crossing in 57 hours 16 minutes covering 4514 miles. Stone served in the coast guard since 1910, came to San Diego 18 months ago. His widow and daughter Marion aged 17 survive.
