Dr Stewart H Smith president of Marshall University Huntington will speak at Pineville High School commencement May 27 at 8 p m. Miss Dawn Stinson directs the class flower ceremony. Mary Ann Crews provides a poem and James Dow Cook offers a prayer. Barbara Poff presents the valedictorian, Iris Stewart delivers the salutatorian, Ronnie Mullens the salutatorian honorarium. Arnold Harless and Jesse W Houck present diplomas. The program ends with Halls of Pineville sung by the senior class.

Boxcar Burns As Trains Collide Near Northfork
Four eastbound Norfolk and Western diesels and three cars derailed near Northfork early Thursday. A boxcar burned after colliding with approaching diesels of a westbound coal train. No injuries reported though fuel spilled and sparked. Damages not yet known. investigators probing cause.
Singing Meet Set In Mullens At Church Of God
A singing convention will be held Saturday night at the Church of God in Mullens at 7 30 p m with the Lamp Lighter's Quartet among attendees. All singers are invited to participate and the event is announced by Rev John R White, Mullens pastor. Births recorded at Wyoming General Hospital Mullens include John Merlin Campbell Clinton Clarence Jr Rogetta Lynn Donna Sue born May 11 13 14 and 16 to various families.
