Rebels report 27 Communist bodies near two outposts

A forward air controller sighted a large Communist force and called in Marine fighter bombers. It was unclear if the Reds seen were part of that attack. The incursions marked the first sizable cross-border strike from the demilitarized zone. Farther south, batta lions of the Flying Horsemen fought heavy combat in the Vinh Thanh Valley, 275 miles north of Saigon, as Communists tried to strike a special forces camp.
