Moon bubbles and space colonies predicted by experts
International rocket expert Dr Krafft Ehricke foresees human colonies on the moon within 200 years, beginning with a 50 to 60 foot high bubble habitat on the lunar surface. He envisions larger bubbles and Earthlike canopies enabling plants to oxygenate the colony as humans consume the oxygen and emit carbon dioxide. Mars follows as next target, with space travel touted as feasible within one generation by others in attendance. An atomic physics advance from University of Michigan also features a xenon bubble chamber for visualizing gamma rays and neutrons, enabling velocity and mass calculations with computer support. The Atomic Energy Commission says economical power from reactors remains 5 to 15 years away.
