Johnson Drugged, Doctor Says Stops PA Boxing
A state athletic commission doctor reported Harold Johnson was drugged before his nationally televised heavyweight fight with Julio Mederos. Governor Leader suspended all professional boxing in Pennsylvania for 90 days, except already arranged bouts. Johnson, hospitalized under police guard, attributed the trouble to an orange given by a stranger, which authorities doubt. Police had favored Johnson as a betting favorite prior to the fight.
