Baseball authority Prof. John Franklin Sain notes Warren Spahn would have reached 400 wins if not for World War II. Spahn lost three full seasons, started slowly after discharge in 1946, then won 21 games in 1947. Sain praises Spahn's longevity, smart adjustments, and professional approach, crediting his low arm strain and adaptability.
