Eccles Miner Dies After Motor Crushes Worker
Charles Lacy Davis, 23, of Harper West Virginia, was crushed by a motor in an Eccles mine at 5 AM after an exploding cable caused him to jump from the motor. He was born June 19 1918 at Mount Tabor, survived by wife Margie Minor Davis, three sisters and two brothers. Rites Sunday at Mount Tabor Baptist Church. Burial in Mount Tabor cemetery. Sugar rationing registration will be continued tomorrow at schools in large communities where crowded conditions or lack of materials prevented completing all applicants. E. M. Ashworth, county superintendent, said those who appeared Thursday and were not processed due to crowds or shortages may return Friday between 3 and 6 p.m. to be registered. Sites with orderly registration by May 7 will finish tonight and will not open Friday. After Friday, records go to the local rationing board. others may register at the board office after May 21 for good cause. W. R. Fugitt said reserve supplies are exhausted and requests for 4,000 application blanks and 4,000 books will be sent today.
