Infant Patty Ann Duty Rites Held at Pineville
Funeral services for Patty Ann Duty infant daughter of Mr and Mrs John Duty Jr of Pineville were held at 11 am in Pineville Chapel Robertson and Foglesong Funeral Home led by Rev L B James. Burial followed in Cooper Cemetery Rockview. The infant died at birth at 6 36 pm Sunday in a Mullens hospital. Surviving relatives include four siblings Leonard Bobby Cathy Sue and Ernestine Louise all at home.

Funeral Wednesday for Saunders Infant in Fayetteville
Funeral services for three month old Mark Azure Saunders will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Saunders home led by Rev. G J Wilson. The infant son of Mr and Mrs Thornton Saunders of Fayetteville died Monday morning at home from suspected sleep strangulation. Surviving are four sisters Catherine Garnet Tanya and Eugenia and brother Anthony Gene at home. Grandparents are Rufus Turner of St Albans and Thomas Peyton of Boomer. Burial will be in Carter Woodson Cemetery at Page. Body at Dodd Payne Funeral Home and to be taken to the home at 10 a.m. Wednesday.

Hearings Set for Oceana Man on Alcohol and Assault Charges
Oceana man Wayne Armachain faced two hearings on Monday for reckless and driving while intoxicated charges and for unlawful and felonious assault. A $50 fine and five days in Wyoming County Jail were imposed in one proceeding. Armachain, arrested Saturday by Police Chief Blankenship and Deputy Roy Aliff, posted a $1,000 bond and appealed. A preliminary hearing on the assault charges followed, waived to the grand jury, with another $1,000 bond set and surety J Wilt Cook.

Mullens residents are urged to support Lions Club Light Bulb Week. Proceeds fund the club’s charitable activities. Joe Witt, drive chairman, says 120 bags of bulbs at $2 each have already sold.
