Franco Says He Expects Long Rule for Spain
In a speech on April 29, Generalissimo Franco voiced hope to live many more years for the good of Spain and warned foes that those who murmur must be expelled. He asserted Falange would remain the leading force even if a monarchist succeeded him, and defended relations with the United States citing aid-for-bases agreements and recent Spanish defense progress. The piece notes U.S. aid figures, base terms, and evolving U.S. Spain ties amid domestic critiques and international pressure.
