Proposed Postal Hikes Would Cost Beckley Families More
Beckley postmaster Fray Lilly says Postmaster General Arthur Summerfield estimates the proposed postal rate increases would add about 15 cents per month to the average Beckley family budget. The plan would shift most extra postage costs onto large commercial users, with total increases around 554 million dollars. Ordinary letters would rise from four to five cents per ounce, air mail from seven to eight cents, postal cards from three to four cents, and air mail postal cards from five to six cents.
