West Virginia reports 327 forest fires across grass and woodland last week driven by high winds and scarce precipitation. Southern districts bore the brunt with Milton area at 9,682 acres and Beckerley 4,419 acres. Romney district had 16 fires on one acre.

Five Are Sentenced On BSE Charges
Five men from the Coal City area pled guilty and were sentenced by Judge Harry L. McCreery to periods from one to ten years with two years probation. Douglas W. Cruise and Danny Lynn Staton admitted breaking and entering Stoco High School and must pay restitution for damages. Marcus Neal Bedwell Jimmy Grahonya and Russell Wall pleaded guilty to attempting to break and enter. each received one year in county jail, $25 fines, and two years probation.
