Proposed Street Widening Plan Declared Illegal
PRINCETON. City Attorney W Robert Carr is advised that widening North Walker Street Straley Avenue and Harrison Avenue is illegal as the council cannot bind future councils. A 10 year city financed parkway removal plan under Haynes Construction is ruled invalid for these streets though petitions approved by the council and to be paid by abutting owners remain unaffected. A hearing on the 1954 paying streets is set for April 5 with work to start mid month. Mayor Beam calls a special council session to discuss widening and paving and filing with the FCC on eliminating the Class 1 Princeton telegraph office and replacing it with a telephone operated agency.
